FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH

“Turning Old Photos, Vital Records, and Family Lore into Family Stories”

SERVICES

Projects and approaches to finding your family history vary, but the end goal of a genealogist is the same: to turn the findings into a family story. Projects may start with very little information. In this case, a Genealogist sends a brief questionnaire to prospective clients asking for basic information. After the initial consultation, the genealogist will prepare a proposal for services.

Common Genealogist Requests:

  • Family Trees for Family Reunions
  • Multi-generational Research
  • Identify Ancestors and their origins
  • Find Missing Relatives
  • Kinship Proof Statements

Northeast U.S

Transatlantic Crossing

Ireland, Wales, Scotland, England, & Italy

Family STORIES

From my findings I create a family story. What was the setting? What conditions did your ancestors live in? The documents, facts, and research are brought to life, giving you a more personal connection.

We strive to help clients discover their US family history and their ancestors home country. Genealogist research often has many twists and turns and is full of surprises. When I first started looking for the origins of my Scottish Grandparents in 2002, I had no idea what happened to my grandfather, who I never met. No one in my family every spoke about him. My father gave me the original 1875 Scottish birth record and 1898 marriage records for my grandfather plus some photos taken in Scotland c. 1900. These documents provided valuable clues and gave me a start. By comparing records from Scotland with U.S. records, I developed good insight into my grandparents life and got to know them.

It’s important to be open minded about possibilities for our ancestors life in the “Old Country” so you can discover where they went, and how they lived in America. What was their occupation? What was their motivation and plan? What conditions led them to leave. Who were their neighbors? Give these questions good thought and propose possible solutions, then begin your search. Along the way of discovery, keep good notes, and collect evidence. Scour the records found for details. Compare life in America with life in their country of origin. Enjoy the journey.
